Advancements in Functionally Graded Polyether Ether Ketone Components: Design, Manufacturing, and Characterisation Using a Modified 3D Printer

Functionally Graded Materials represent the next generation of engineering design for metal and plastic components. In this research, a specifically modified optimised 3D printer was used to manufacture functionally graded polyether ether ketone This paper details manufacturing methodologies in development capable producing materials through manipulation microstructure. The interaction individually deposited beads material during printing process investigated using scanning electron microscopy, observe quantify porosity levels interlayer bonding strength, which affects quality final parts. Specimens were produced under varying conditions tested characterise influence on resulting properties. specimens printed at high enclosure temperatures exhibited greater strength than parts without active addition heat, due improved bond formation between individual layers print large degree crystallinity maintenance these elevated temperatures.
